A first for Michelle
Michelle O'Neill officiating at the Wexford Youths v. Limerick match on Friday.
IT was yet another first for Wexford Youths on Friday night last. One of the assistant referees in Wexford Youths stunning 5-3 victory over promotion chasing Limerick FC at Ferrycarrig Park was Michelle O'Neill.
Michelle, who has officiated at Wexford Football League games was the first female from the Wexford Referees Society to officiate at an Airtricity Division 1 league game.
Michelle, who is an accomplished referee, has also officiated at major international girls tournaments, but this was her first time in charge of the line at an Irish league game.
Michelle was the recipient of numerous messages of congratulations on her appointment.
Another Wexford referee Sean Grant has also been honoured with taking charge of league games, while also officiating as linesman and fourth officials on numerous other occasions.
