Division 2 crown secured in style

THERE WAS yet more success for Wexford under-age teams in the Leinster inter-county championships, with the county Under-13 squad securing the Division 2 title in Kilkenny.
Wexford began their title challenge with a 3-2 victory over the home side and followed up with a 50 success over Louth. In the afternoon semi-final, Wexford overcame Dublin 'C' 4-1, which put them in the final against Offaly.
Clodagh Dunne and Noel Dunne set Wexford on their way to success, with Clodagh an impressive 30-9 victor in the girls' singles, while Irish international Noel Dunne won his singles 30-17.
The Monaseed pairing of Una Sinnott and Clodagh Dempsey ensured a Wexford victory when they won the girls' doubles 30-13, and Noel and Jack Dunne put further icing on the cake with a 30-14 victory in the boys' doubles.
Offaly took the final games when Clodagh Dempsey and Pat Kenny narrowly lost the mixed doubles 3028.
Team managers were Nicholas Murphy, Eddie Kent and Seamus Creane.
