Bannow-Ballymitty best

THE COUNTY finals of the Community Games Under-16 boys' table-tennis competition took place in Glynn Hall recently.

The event was co-ordinated by Jason Moran and thanks are extended to him and to the management of Glynn Hall for the use of their premises.

In the first of the semi-finals, Ballycanew took on GlynnBarntown. Corey Nolan (GB) defeated Dara Cahill 3-0, but Shane Quinn levelled the match for Ballycanew by defeating Shawn Kehoe ( pictured right) 3-0.

Corey Nolan then defeated Brian O'Connor 2-1, while his team-mate, Luke Barnes, defeated Dara Cahill to leave Glynn-Barntown in a 3-1 lead.

Then Shawn Kehoe beat Brian O'Connor (3-0), and Luke Barnes defeated Shane Quinn 3-0 to take the match on a 5-1 scoreline and earn a place in the final.

In the other semi-final, Bannow-Ballymitty took on Taghmon. Stephen O'Gorman of Taghmon defeated Aaron Diskin 3-2 in the first game, but David White (BB) levelled the match, defeating Darren Carty 3-0.

His team-mate, Jon Reville, then defeated Stephen O'Gorman to give them a 3-1 lead. Taghmon were still battling hard and Ian Carty defeated David White to make it 3

3. It was down to the doubles to decide the winners. Taghmon's Alex McKenzie and Darren Carty took on David White and John Reville, with victory going to the Bannow-Ballymitty pairing on a 3-0 scoreline to put them into the decider.

The final featured Bannow-Ballymitty and Glynn-Barntown. Aaron Diskin (BB) got his team off to a great start, defeating Corey Nolan 3-0, while Jon Reville defeated Shawn Kehoe 3-0 and David White made it a 3-0 scoreline for them by defeating Corey Nolan 3-0. Luke Barnes pulled a game back for Glynn-Barntown by defeating Aaron Diskin 3-0 to leave the scoreline at 3-1.

Then David White (BB) again defeated Shawn Kehoe, while Luke Barnes (GB) defeated Jon Reville to see the scoreline at 4-2 and the county title was in the hands of the Bannow-Ballymitty team.
