THE SIXTH annual Gorey District winter league finals in Under-13 hurling took place over the last week. On Thursday evening under lights in Craanford, the Division 1 finals were played, with Buffers Alley defeating Askamore in the cup, while Craanford took the shield by seeing off Naomh Éanna.

On Sunday in Ballygarrett, the home side lost out in the Division 2 cup by a last-minute point to Carnew Emmets after an exciting game, where the lead changed hands several times before the visitors took the title back with them to Wicklow.

The Division 2 shield will take place next weekend between Liam Mellows and Arklow Rock Parnells.

The District leagues have proved a great success with the clubs in north Wexford and Wicklow and have now become an integral part of their playing season.

The District committee would like to thank all the clubs for their co-operation in the successful running of the leagues, and we wish them all well in the coming season, with the championships to begin in the near future.
