Under-14s show skill in Croker
THE COILLTE School of Excellence took place on Monday of last week at Croke Park, with eight counties attending the annual Under-14 camogie development day.
Representatives from Wexford, Kerry, Galway, Down, Monaghan, Offaly, Meath and Dublin made the journey to G.A.A. headquarters to participate in a day of matches, skills seminars, nutrition presentations and questions and answers sessions with intercounty camogie stars, Mary Leacy of Wexford and Louise O'Hara of Dublin.
Camogie Association President, Joan O'Flynn, said: 'today is the culmination of fun and skill development over recent months as part of the various county development squads.
Congratulations to all eight teams involved and a special thank you to all the mentors, coaches, parents and families who are involved in nurturing and supporting our young players to participate, enjoy and learn the skills of camogie.
'Camogie is also indebted to Coillte and John Torpey Hurleys for their support. In tough economic times, sponsorship is worth so much and I am delighted that through camogie we can support and recognise their support. We are also extremely grateful to the G.A.A. for the use of Croke Park Stadium for this special event.'
This is the seventh year of the Camogie Association and Coillte School of Excellence partnership which supports the development of under-age camogie nationwide.
