RAPPAREES-STARLIGHTS were honoured for their 2009 achievements when named as club of the year.
Their Under-14 teams represented Wexford in the AllIreland Féile na Gael. They performed excellently in both codes, winning an All-Ireland Division 4 football title.
On the domestic front, Rapparees emerged as winners of the Under-14 Division 1 hurling title, while also taking the Under-16 Division 1 hurling crown.
In football, the Starlights annexed the Under-14 Division 1 title along with Under-16 Division 1 honours.
Rapparees-Starlights were also the Féile Peil and Slaney hurling winners.
Crossabeg-Ballymurn were honoured with second spot, having won the Under-14 Division 2 county hurling title, while taking runners-up spot in Under-16 Division 3.
In football they were runners-up in both Under-12 Division 2 and Under-14 Division 2. They also had to be content with runners-up spot in Minor football Division 5.
Third-best club was Glynn-Barntown. They were winners of Division 1 Minor hurling and football, and were also successful in Under-16 Division 2 hurling.
A worthy recipient of the clubperson of the year award was Michael Farrell from the Buffers Alley club. A former player with the club, Michael has made a telling contribution to the under-age structures of the club while also having a leading role in coaching in the schools in the parish.
