Hurling

Dunbrody outpoint Duffry

Wednesday July 28 2010

THE COMBINED forces of St. James' and Horeswood advanced to the Captain Michael Baker Under-21 hurling Premier championship semi-final when they outpointed Dugffry Rovers in Horeswood on Monday of last week.

A strong first-half showing made all the difference, with the last four points before the break powering them into a commanding interval lead of 0-15 to 0-5.

Michael O'Hanlon (two frees) and Declan Murphy (three) got them off to the best possible start, with Kevin O'Grady also getting in on the act while Jason Rackard, Barry O'Neill and James Codd responded for the Duffry.

Three Rackard points on the re-start gave the visitors renewed hope, but Dunbrody Gaels were always able to stay that bit ahead as O'Hanlon, Tomás Power, Damien O'Grady and Jack O'Brien all displayed good accuracy.
