Doyle slams ref in strong outburst

Referee John Morrissey with rival captains, Orla Cotter and Una Leacy.
WEXFORD MANAGER J.J. Doyle described referee John Morrissey's performance as 'scandalous' and 'just as bad' as the previous week's football debacle following his side's narrow loss to Cork on Saturday.
'I don't like getting on about referees but the referee out there today was scandalous,' said a seething Doyle. 'In the second-half he just gave frees every time he could to Cork. It's very hard to keep going when soft frees are continuously given against you, especially when everyone who was at that match today saw they were not frees.
'There is very little that can be done (about intimidation of the referee). We can put in an objection but whether it will do any good or not I don't know, it's sad to see it in the game. We saw the refereeing performances there last week but that there today was just as bad.
'The balls into the full-forward line today weren't as good as they were last week, it was high ball and maybe it suited the backs.
'The girls will learn from today, we will take the hurt from these performances and turn them in to positives for next week and the semi-final in four weeks.
'We don't want to be going into an All-Ireland semi-final having lost three matches,' Doyle said, looking forward to Kilkenny this weekend.
'We will be eager to put what happened there today right on home turf . You never want to be beaten by Kilkenny and we certainly don't want to be beaten by them next week.'
