RACING FOR 2010 got under way on Monday of last week with the card postponed on the previous Thursday night. Some good runs were witnessed, and 'Notre Pere' was quickest when taking the ninth race in a good 29.25. Next best just .1 behind was 'Business Doc' who scored well in the fourth race when recording 29.26.

The eighth race saw 'Kingsmill Fox' score well by six lengths in 29.29, going on to score in Waterford on Saturday night.

Thursday night's card drew a good crowd and there was some good racing. The quickest run of the night went to 'Running Smart' in race six when leading trap to line to score by eight and a half lengths in a fast 29.07, making it nine from 19 starts.

Trainer Liam Butler Jnr. had a good night when recording a nice double. 'Don't Look Back' got back to winning ways, scoring by two lengths in 29.45 in race seven, and then reserve 'White Mac' got home by a short head to beat 'Tommy Two Toes' in race eight in 29.17.

Good dog 'Leading Arrival' led in race nine, but disaster struck and unfortunately he got injured and 'Mottee Denis' took the race by two and a half lengths in 29.45.

'A Blonde Tail' took a flyer in the last race and raced home a clear four lengths to the good in a fine 30.42 over 550 yards.

The first race saw 'Compass Vicky' score by three lengths in a useful 29.10. 'Clonbony Sally' was an impressive six-length winner in race two in a time of 29.20.

'Give It A Chance' came in as reserve for kennel companion 'Ashwood Finbar' in race three and ran out a comfortable three-length 29.29 winner.

'Wibbles Rocker' came good in the fourth and scored a snug four and a half lengths victory in 29.38. The fifth race went to 'Next Oasis' who held on by a head from 'Ashwood Comet' in 29.36. The next race night is this Thursday, February 4.

In other news, Wexford trainer Anton Butler and Terry Rossiter enjoyed a good win at Shelbourne Park in the A2 final when 'Telex Chick' scored.

Kenneth Foley of Crossabeg is going well with his dog, 'Boggan', in the Unraced Stake at Clonmel track, winning his first two rounds. Noel O'Gorman also enjoyed a good win at Clonmel when his 'Tyford Jane' was quickest in the first round of the A4 550 Stake. Hopefully there will be many more successes to report in the months ahead.
