Minor football boss

Wednesday February 10 2010

ADAMSTOWN CLUBMAN David Byrne is the new Wexford Minor football manager.

Byrne's appointment was approved at last Wednesday night's County Board meeting. His backroom team will be finalised in due course.

The Under-21 hurling backroom team of Tony Dempsey (manager), Paul Dempsey (Oulart-The Ballagh) and Garry Laffan (Glynn-Barntown) also met with approval, and will act as county Intermediate hurling selectors as well.

It's expected that one more name will be added to the group.

With Art Bennett having been elected as President of Wexford County Board for a two-year term, nominations have been received for Vice-Presidents.

The following candidates will be considered by members of the County Management Committee at their next meeting:

Jim Crowley (Sarsfields), Fr. Jim Ryan, Larry Byrne (Rapparees-Starlights), Sean Ormonde (Blackwater), Willie Kelly (Marshalstown), Joe Brennan (Clonard) and Charlie Golden (Volunteers).
