Marshalstown beat Kilanerin
THE ONLY entertaining game in the Jack O'Leary Intermediate football 'B' championship quarter-finals on Friday last saw Marshalstown-Castledockrell come away from Kilanerin with a two-point win over the home side.
The scores flew freely from an early stage, with the visitors getting a boost in the eleventh minute when Frank Kelly goaled to give them a 1-2 to 0-4 lead.
The lead was widened to three points at one stage, but Kilanerin were back on level terms by the break (0-9 to 16) after points from Mark Boland, Cathal D'Arcy (free), Stephen and Jim Hughes.
The visitors hit the first three points of the new half, but a punched goal by James Graham brought Kilanerin back on level terms once more. Further goals followed from John Cullen for Marshalstown-Castledockrell and Enda O'Leary for the home side, but Kilanerin lost their way near the end with some poor scoring attempts before James Byrne kicked a late point to copper-fasten their rivals' victory.
