Clubs learn their fate

THE NEW championship format for the 2010 season was the main talking point after the draws were made in Enniscorthy on Wednesday night last.

An early defeat is not an option as it could leave a side struggling under the new relegation format, with three going down from both Senior codes.

For sure there was far greater interest in the outcome of the respective draws as clubs compared their groups and what's needed to preserve their status, a factor which should give the championship a new impetus from the off.

Defending champions, Horeswood, are joined by Ballyhogue, Taghmon-Camross and Fethard in Group A of the football, but Group B can best be described as the group of death as it contains last year's beaten finalists, St. Anne's, as well as Castletown, Starlights and Gusserane.

In Senior hurling, reigning champions, Oulart-The Ballagh, open the defence of their title against St. Anne's in Group D which also contains Askamore and Shelmaliers.
