Castletown dismiss 14-man Craanford
CASTLETOWN 1-15 CRAANFORD 3-3
CASTLETOWN HAD a well-deserved win on home ground over a very young and eager Craanford side that finished up with 14 players following a dismissal by Kilanerin referee Pádraig Byrne in Sunday's O'loughlin Cup quarter-final.
There was little or nothing between the teams throughout a tight-marking and low-scoring first-half, and they were level at the break (Castletown 0-4, Craanford 1-1).
With the strong wind behind them, Castletown got well on top in the second-half with James Casey scoring their only goal from a penalty and Stephen Moloney, Seán Roche, Gavin Stamp and Seán O'connor sharing most of the points.
The absence of Michael Lyons through injury was a big loss to Craanford, and the reduction to 14 players was also a blow.
