Bunclody best in awful encounter
THE FARE was atrocious in Monageer on Saturday last as HWH-Bunclody outpointed Shamrocks to reach the final of the Junior football 'B' championship.
Scores were in shockingly short supply, and it was a game to forget with no redeeming features. Jason Somers and John Dobbs exchanged points in the opening five minutes, but this wasn't a sign of things to come as the umpires weren't troubled too often thereafter.
By half-time it was 0-4 to 0-2 in favour of the eventual winners, with Somers, Páiric Doyle and Kevin Dunne adding to their tally.
Shamrocks had the wind on the re-start and were level within five minutes thanks to frees taken by John Dobbs and Colin Sheehan.
The finishing over the next 20 minutes from both sides was deplorable but, just when the extra-time which nobody wanted was looming, up stepped Kevin Dunne (free) and James Crean to kick the winning points for HWH-Bunclody.
