Double final delight
THEY REALISED it was last chance saloon. Ciara O'Connor had just tapped over the lead free in the first minute of injury time to give Wexford their one-point advantage back in this Gala All-Ireland Intermediate camogie championship semi-final. Limerick knew it was now or never to keep their dreams alive. Louise Codd was intent on extinguishing those dreams. As the nervy crowd in Ardfinnan gazed on to produce an almost eerie backdrop, returning centre-back Codd plucked Síle Moynihan's puck-out from the sky, burst through a melee of surrounding Limerick midfielders and lashed over the clinching point from just inside half-way.
Kilanerin shake off dogged Shels challenge
MATTY FORDE, not for the first time, proved the hero as he inspired Kilanerin through a tense second-half before they eventually shook off a dogged Shelmaliers challenge in this WFC Senior football championship quarter-final at Wexford Park on Sunday last.
Castletown outclass Fethard in stroll in the park
CASTLETOWN WERE very much on song as they cruised to the most comfortable of 19-point victories over a poor Fethard outfit in this WFC Senior football championship quarter-final at Wexford Park on Sunday last. Castletown were so much in control that the result was a foregone conclusion by the tenth minute, at which stage they led by 1-5 to 0-1.
Clonee capture back-to-back titles
TWO GOALS in three second-half minutes from Jimmy Morris and Alan Byrne proved decisive as Clonee made it back-to-back Gorey District Junior 'D' football championship titles following a tight battle with neighbours Ferns St. Aidan's on Saturday last at Páirc Uí Síocháin.
Youths salvage a point against Shels
GREG YIVERTON's goal one minute into additional time saw Wexford Youths mix the bad with the good as they salvaged a point from a dominant Shelboure F.C. side in this Airtricity Division 1 clash at Ferrycarrig Park on Sunday afternoon last. While Wexford Youths will be very happy to have snatched a point, they will be none too pleased with their display which, after a promising opening 45 minutes, deteriorated to such an extent that Shels must still be wondering why they failed to add to their first-half tally given their dominance through the second period.
Glorious 22 gold medals secured
WEEKEND TWO of the HSE Community Games national finals took place from August 13-15, with Wexford having a great weekend. Involved in eight different activities, the children brought home medals from almost all of these events. What a record.
Last evening meet fixed for Bettyville
THE LONG, hot summer comes to an end at Bettyville on Friday next with the last evening meeting of the 2010 horse racing season. Bumper hurling weekend
OULART-THE-BALLAGH have set all challengers a tall order as the countdown to the four Pettitt's Senior hurling championship quarter-finals continues apace. Faythe Harriers, winners of the ' B' championship last year, have been handed the task of dismantling the reigning champions when they clash at Wexford Park on Sunday evening, in what is an attractive double-header as it also features Rathnure and St. Martin's.

Adamstown send holders packing
ADAMSTOWN STUNNED reigning champions Horeswood to gain a fivepoint victory in a pulsating WFC Senior football championship quarter-final at Wexford Park on Saturday last. JOHN Langan-Murphy proved to be a winner with his accuracy from placed balls in the Gorey District Junior 'D' hurling championship final played on Saturday last in Páirc Uí Síocháin.
