Walkers put best feet forward

THE MEMBERS of Gorey's newest walking club put their best feet forward last Friday, as they set out around Gorey town to get some exercise and fresh air.
The Gorey Family Resource Centre Walking Club is planning to meet each Friday at midday for a walk which should last around an hour. Anita Carroll of the Family Resource Centre on Charlotte Row said they had a great reaction to their first day, and should there be enough interest, they may even head out on a second day each week.
'It's for both women and men, and the idea is to get people out and about to get fit,' she said. 'It's social more than anything, and it's for all levels of fitness.'
She said they will follow different routes around the town, and would love to hear from anyone who knows of other nice routes that can be done.
'We hope eventually to be able to do the mini-marathon as a fundraiser for Gorey Family Resource Centre,' said Anita.
Ten ladies turned out on the first day for the walk, but they pointed out that men are welcome too. There's no joining fee, and it's a great way to make new friends.
