WHILE FACEBOOK is a social networking site, most commonly used to share banter and jokes, it's also being used as a tool to spread the 'good word'.
In fact plenty of parishes around County Wexford have hopped onto the facebook freeway, and your parish priest is probably only a poke away.
One of those leading the trend is Barntown Church where parishioners are very active. With just under 500 members - not bad for a small parish - the facebook page keeps parishioners up to date on all sorts of happenings from local parish christenings to church collections for Pakistan Flood victims.
Administered by the parish curate, Fr. John Carroll, the facebook page has an active discussion board where people are encouraged to debate not only parish issues but also Diocesan and global church matters.
