Public meeting for new showgrounds
CONSULTATION TO HELP DEVELOP ARCHITECT'S BRIEF

Gorey Showgrounds.
Wednesday March 03 2010
A PUBLIC consultation meeting to develop an architect's brief for the design of facilities at Gorey Showgrounds, is to be held in the Ashdown Park Hotel in Gorey this Friday, March 5, at 1.30 p.m.
Anyone interested in going along is asked to confirm their attendance with Clinton Donovan at Wexford County Council on (053) 9176557 or by email to clinton.donovan@wexfordcoco.ie
The Council recently ran a campaign seeking the public's ideas for developing the Showgrounds, and it said there was a 'reasonable response' with around 30 submissions made.
Among the suggestions were: sports facilities for young people; recreational facilities for older people; the redevelopment of Gorey Town Park, which adjoins the Showgrounds; allotments; indoor sports facilities; an extension to the Skatepark; and safe areas to walk.
Mr. Donovan said the final design will take as many elements as possible on board in a way that compliments each use.
He added that they have met individually with sports groups around the town, and the meeting this Friday will see the collation of the ideas that have been put forward. A brief will then be prepared for the architect.
Anyone who expressed an interest in the process will be invited to attend the meeting and interested members of the public are welcome to attend subject to registering their attendance in advance.
