North Wexford placenames in The New Yorker magazine

PLACENAMES across North Wexford, South Wicklow, and Carlow, as well as the Gorey of years gone by, feature heavily in a story in the current edition of The New Yorker magazine. The widely-read American magazine features a work of fiction written by author Claire Keegan, who won the €25,000 Davy Byrnes award for the story last June.

The story 'Foster' centres around the story of a young girl who was fostered with a family for a short spell, while her mother gave birth. Among the placenames mentioned in the story are Clonegal, Shillelagh, Carnew, Kilmuckridge, Gorey, and Parkbridge.
