Great drama line-up

THIS Thursday sees the start of the 54th South Leinster Drama Festival at Gorey Little Theatre. The Theatre Group launched festival details last week, with a reception in the theatre.
Chairperson, Clara Quirke, outlined schedule of plays on the line up, and promised a great week of drama in Gorey. Tickets can be purchased from Gorey Little Theatre, costing ¤10 per show, or ¤40 for a season ticket, granting access for all eight shows of the festival.
The festival kicks off tomorrow, Thursday, March 4, finishing on Friday, March 12, playing every night, except for Sunday March 7, to allow the weekly bingo go ahead.
The line-up is as follows: Tuesday, March 4: Kilmuckridge Drama Group with 'Canaries' by Bernard Farrell.
Friday, March 5: Ballyduff Drama Group with 'Of Mice And Men' by John Steinbeck.
Saturday, March 6: Kilmeen Drama Group with 'King Of The Castle' by Eugene McCabe. Sunday, March 6: Bingo. Monday, March 8: Silken Thomas Theatre Players with 'The History Boys' by Alan Bennett. Tuesday, March 9: Ferns Drama Group with 'Translations' by Brian Friel. Wednesday, March 10: Ballycogley Drama Group with 'Eclipsed' by Patricia Burke Brogan.
Thursday, March 11: Kilrush Drama Group with 'Raftery's Hill' by Marina Carr.
Friday, March 12: Cuckoo's Nest Theatre Players with 'The Caretaker' by Harold Pinter.
The plays commence each night at 8 p.m. apart from the final night when the show starts at 7.30 p.m. to allow for the adjudicator's verdict to be delivered afterwards.
