Film critics hail 'Bogeyman'

Actor and musician Michael Parle from Ramsgrange stars in the halfhour long film The Bogeyman.
A SHORT FILM shot on location in County Wexford was this week named Most Exciting Break Through in the Directing Category' by movie critics on the Horror Cult Films website.
The half-hour long film, ' The Bogeyman', is based on a Stephen King psychological horror which depicts the tale of a man telling a psychiatrist about the mysterious deaths of his three children. Some scenes from the movie were filmed at Fethard beach, Carne and Hook Lighthouse.
Wexford actress Natasha O'brien and her nine-year-old daughter Sasha Philips, Piercestown starred in the production alongside well-known local actor and musician Michael Parle from Ramsgrange.
Natasha paid tribute to the film's director Gerard Lough who hails from Donegal, saying that ' it was great to work with him and he really listened to what the younger actors had to say, especially when Sasha was telling him exactly what she thought would be best!' The film also featured two other budding young actors, Michael Connolly and Ben Furlong, who gave incredible performances.
Gerard Lough said that winning this award was 'particularly special to me as it was voted for by the public and the film is getting noticed because of positive word of mouth rather than an expensive marketing campaign or lobbying'.
This art house film was shown as part of the recent Wexworlds festival.
Sadly due to of legal constraints the film can't be made commercially available to the public, but can only be shown at film festivals and arts events.
However, Gerard is hopeful that Wexford Arts Centre will show an interest in screening the work again, giving the people of Wexford another opportunity to view it.
