ESB says line fault behind power cut
Wednesday August 25 2010
THE ESB HAS SAID that a fault on the line outside the Garden City station in Gorey caused the loss of power to around 2,300 customers last Thursday morning.
Areas affected included Garden City, Ramsfort Avenue, parts of Gorey, Inch, Ballinacarrig, Ballymoney, Ballyscartin, and Clonsilla.
A spokesperson for ESB Networks said that a fault on the line caused a burnt off connection on a cable pole. The power went out at around 8.20 a.m. and half of those affected had power restored by 9 a.m. The remaining customers from Inch downwards, got their electricity back just after midday.
