What can be said about Liam Spratt, that he probably hasn't already said himself?

As if the affable sports aficionado wasn't legendary enough, Wexford's colourful live compère has nearly 1,000 eager followers on his Facebook fan site.

The page is not administered by the Enniscorthy sports fiend, but is a place where his regular listeners swap stories about his rib-tickling commentaries.

Known for his occasional faux pas behind the microphone, and never one to take himself too seriously, some of Liam's famous quotes are liberally recalled by the fans on his page: 'Liam Spratt – Broadcasting Legend'.

One of the incidents recalled is when Liam interviewed David O'Connor a few years ago, and asked: 'Tell us now David, why do people call you Doc'.

Liam's double act with Billy Byrne have also led to some comical commentary.

An instance is recalled on the Facebook wall. Liam: 'What was the traffic like today Billy, when you were travelling up?' Billy: 'You should know Liam, I was in the same car as you'.

Momentary mix-ups also make the hall of fame, like when Liam mistook Waterford goalie, Clinton Hennessy for former soccer international, Clinton Morrisson.

'And a great save from the Waterford goalkeeper Clinton Morrison... wait, no... sorry... Clinton Hennessy in the Waterford goal. Got the wrong colour there Billy.'

All jokes aside the 'Liam Spratt – Broadcasting Legend' facebook site is also a source of information for the fans with weekend sports fixture updates loaded weekly.

Logging onto Liam Spratt means you can get your facts while chuckling at classic comments like 'Dickie Watch looks at his Murphy' and 'the game is in and the ball is on'.
