Bishop Brennan announces new appointments

Wednesday November 11 2009

BISHOP OF Ferns Denis Brennan has announced the appointments of a Vicar General for the Diocese of Ferns and an Episcopal Vicar for Clergy.

The new Vicar General for the Diocese is Fr Joe McGrath, PP New Ross, and the new Episcopal Vicar for Clergy is Fr Denis Lennon, PP Clonard. Both Fr McGrath and Fr Lennon are current Vicars Forane in the Diocese of Ferns. The other Vicars Forane are Fr Paddy Cushen, PP Ferns, and Fr John Sweetman, PP Riverchapel.

In making the announcement, the Bishop congratulated both men and thanked them for their willingness to serve.

A word of tribute was also paid to the retired Vicar General, Monsignor Joseph L. Kehoe P.A. for his years of service as Priest, Vicar Forane and Vicar General.

'The Vicars of the diocese are a key element in the management of the diocese and they bear individual and very particular responsibilities for its day to day management and pastoral welfare,' said Bishop Brennan.

'Their assistance is at all times appreciated and their insight and understanding helps to shape decision making that seeks to be forward looking, inclusive and caring of all,' he said.
