BINGO'S STILL BREACHING!

Wednesday February 03 2010

ANOTHER spectacular sight was witnessed on Sunday off Baginbun Head when Bingo feasted on huge shoals of herring.

Whale watchers on board the Rebecca C looked on in amazement as thousands of fish jumped out of water trying to escape the humpback, before he surfaced just at the edge of the huge herring ball.

'From our high vantage point it resembled a huge oil slick as the shoal reflected in the bright sunlight.' said Kevin MacCormick from the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group. According to Deirdre Slevin, a member of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group from New Ross, Bingo breached the waters off Hook Head no less than five times on Monday and delighted onlookers on Friday when he breached three times.
