TWELVE teachers from the Gorey, Enniscorthy and Bunclody areas who retired over the past few years were honoured for their years of service at a function organised by the Enniscorthy branch of ASTI in Gorey last week.

Former teachers from Gorey Community School, St. Mary's CBS in Enniscorthy and FCJ Bunclody, were joined by former colleagues and family members for the evening.

Special guest on the evening was ASTI President Joe Moran, who praised the commitment and excellent work of the twelve retirees over many years, and the service they had given the community. He noted how many of them had been particularly involved with extra-curricular activities with students.

ASTI Branch Chairman James McGovern also wished each of them well on their retirement and thanked them for their contribution to the branch over the years. Particular tribute was paid to Marie Travers, formerly with Gorey Community School, who was branch treasurer for many years, and well as a member of the Central Executive Council.
