THERE were celebrations at Carnew Enterprise Centre recently as more than 45 students received awards for completing various courses from basic to advanced levels.

The students received their awards in subjects as diverse as Employment Skills, ECDL, ECDL Advanced, Introduction to Internet, and Sign Language – a new course at the Enterprise Centre.

'Returning to education is a big challenge for adults, who have to juggle family and work commitments with their studying,' said Education and Training Co-ordinator Debbie Furlong.

'So, hearty congratulations go out to all those who are being rewarded tonight for their hard work in completing their courses.' She added that she had just experienced life herself as a student having completed the Sign Language course.

Ms. Furlong also thanked the Enterprise Centre partners who funded many of the courses and without whom courses couldn't be delivered at a local level.

' We're committed to offering training locally as a service to the local community,' said Enterprise Centre manager Anne Kavanagh.
