Oulart-The Ballagh under 21 hurlers, managed by Stephen Doyle, had a comprehensive win over Faythe Harriers in Pairc Charmain on Monday July 19.

Wind assisted, they scored 3 goals 13 points to 3 points in the first half and added a further 1 goal and 9 points in the second half to leave the full-time score at 4 goals 22 points to 1 goal 7points. Tommy Storey (2gls. 2 pts), Darren Murphy (2gls. 1 pt), Eoin Moore (6 pts), Alan Goff, Conor O'Leary and Aaron Kenny (3pts. each), Michael O' Dowd (2 pts.) and Eamon Murphy and substitute Jason Kirwan (1pt. each).

The defence was well marshalled by Tomas Dunne at full-back and Eoin Moore at centre-back while Colm Sinnott and Kevin Nimmo on the corners and Nicholas Cullen and Patrick La Roche on the wings were tight and tigerish in the tackle and all excelled at delivering intelligent clearances down field.

Behind them, goalie and captain Michael Sinnott never put a foot wrong and was cool and confident in the execution of his duties. Eamon Murphy and Conor Goff controlled the midfield area while Aaron Kenny excelled at centre-forward with Conor O'Leary and James O'Toole dominant on either side of him.

The inside forwards, Michael O'Dowd, Darren Murphy and Tommy Storey scored 4 goals 5 points between them and exerted constant pressure on the Harriers defence. Patrick O' Connor, Alan Brennan, Jamie Leacy and Jason Kirwan came on as substitutes late in the second half while the unfortunate Shaun Murphy who was injured playing for Wexford had to watch the proceeding from the sideline.

The Co. semi-final, between Oulart-The Ballagh and Glynn-Barntown (Monday, July 26, in Oulart) will have been played by the time these notes are published. Check the sports pages for match report and details of the Co. Final.
