Mercedes on cloud nine after 60th birthday party
Mercedes Whyte from Wexford Street who celebrated her 60th birthday in the Loch Garman with family members, Michael Gannon, Sheila Kenny and Terry Gannon.
'I'M on cloud nine and I haven't come down from it yet,' said a delighted Mercedes Whyte this week following her surprise 60th birthday party in the Loch Garman Arms last Saturday night.
'I want to thank all my friends who kept it such a secret,' she added.
Mercedes was looking forward to a tasty steak dinner when she walked in to the Loch Garman, but was bowled over to find over sixty family members and friends waiting to surprise her with a party.
It took her a few minutes to get over the shock, but when she did, the party started in earnest. She had her Goddaughter Jackie Gannon to thank for instigating the whole thing. 'I want to thank everyone for making a special woman very happy,' said Jackie.
Mercedes also thanked everyone for coming along and for all their good wishes.
Among those helping her celebrate were her daughter Caroline, her brothers Michael and Terry, and her sister Sheila. Music on the night was provided by Bobby Byrne from Arklow and Mercedes sent a special thank you to her sister-in-law Anne and sister Sheila for preparing the food.
