Land acquisition for bypasses continues
LAND acquisition has been continuing apace along the routes of the Enniscorthy and New Ross by-passes, it was confirmed last week.
County manager Eddie Breen reported that €22 million has been shared to date between 92 landholders due to be affected by the N11. A total of 203 property owners will be eventually paid off with money from the National Roads Authority to make way for the Enniscorthy road.
Meanwhile, 38 landholders due to be affected by the New Ross project have shared a total of €3.6 million to date. It is expected that the number of landholders in this case will eventually come to 94. The NRA is set to continue to provide the funds to pay for the land, despite the Government's austerity programme. Eddie Breen noted that the sum of €31.6 million has already been expended, though the actual building of the road has been deferred.
