Fancy dress fun in aid of Niall Mellon Trust
Wednesday November 04 2009
THERE WAS a hint of far off South Africa in the air on Saturday night as Willie Hayden prepared to depart for a building site in Cape Town. He and Robert Stamp are due to join the Niall Mellon trust in constructing new houses at the end of the week.
In the mean time, they held a Hallowe'en party at Mernagh's pub, where Willie appeared dressed as a pirate. Supporters contributed close to five hundred pieces of eight to the cause. There were plenty of prizes on offer and Marian Downes collected the one for being the best dressed party-goer.
Entertainment was provided by a deejay and nourishment was laid on by chef Sue Mernagh who dished up a great vat load of colcannon to hungry customers.
