HOSPICE MORNING The Coffee Morning held in conjunction with the Monthly Market at Gardiner's on last Saturday morning raised over €1,250. With all the proceeds going to the North Wexford Hospice it was an outstanding success, the organising Committee wish to say a very sincere thanks to all their sponsors, and all those who supported the coffee morning, and a special thanks to those who helped out in so many ways.

COMMUNITY COFFEE SHOP

The Community Coffee Shop is open every Friday morning from 10 till 12 in the May Byrne Trust House. ?2.00 for a cup of tea and a slice of home baked cake. All welcome why not come for the tea and stay for the chat.

TIDY TOWNS

At the Tidy Towns Committee meeting held on 30th August, with Chairman Philip Sharpe presiding, the Secretary Nora Finn said that the Tidy Towns results will be announced on the 13th September in the Helix Theatre in Dublin.

The meeting discussed and outlined further development for the coming year, including a major face lift around the Marian Grotto. Treasurer Maureen Kelly made the point that the Committee are again appealing to any farmers who have gone out of milk and may have 3 or 4 old Creamery cans lying around, would you please offer them to the Tidy Towns Group.

The Village has never looked so well as it did this year, and all thanks for that must go to all the people who make such a big effort over the Spring and Summer months to achieve that, and to Maureen for looking after and caring for the flowers.

The Committee are also appealing for more volunteers for the coming year, which would add greatly help for the coming year.

SYMPATHY

The local Community extend their deepest sympathy to Betty McCarthy, Askinch on the recent death of her sister Margaret Weekes, whose burial took place in Craanford cemetery last Wednesday.

Deepest sympathy is also extended to the Family of the late Mrs Mary O'Donnell, Knockgreany, whose burial took place in Ballyfad cemetery on last Sunday, after 11 am Mass in St David's Church Johnstown.

WEDDING BELLS

Congratulations to Michelle Somers, daughter of Danny & Kay Somers Thomastown, on her Marriage to Mark Fallon, son of the late Mr & Mrs Willie Fallon, Arklow, which took place at St David's Church, Johnstown last Friday. They held their reception at the Amber Springs Hotel Gorey, where a very large number of Guests attended, and a great day was had by all.

COMMUNITY ALERT

A meeting has been arranged for the launch night of Johnstown/Thomastown Community for Monday the 13th of September at 7:30pm at Barnacleagh National School.

An Garda Siochana and a representative from Muintir Na Tire will be in attendance for the meeting. Where they are looking forward to speaking with everyone on the night.

SOCCER

Well done to the Celtic team who earned a 2 goals to 2 draw with Adamstown, with the goals coming from the Brothers Greg and Jimmy O'Rourke in this away game.

Coolgreany Celtic Ladies Club are starting to prepare for the coming season, and they are looking for any new players who may wish to come on board and be a part of the club, for more information contact the Manager Patsy McDonald, on 0871202822

YOUTH CLUB

The AGM of Coolgreany Youth Club took place in the May Byrne House on Friday 27th August, where a very successful year was reviewed by the outgoing Chairperson Denise Moules.

Patricia McMahon was elected as Chairperson, and Majella Boland elected as Treasurer, with both ladies agreeing to share the Secretarial work, after which the club announced they was a large turnout of new members this coming year.

And any past pupils who have left the primary school recently are very welcome to join again this year - names can be left with Denise Moules at 087-7717623.

MARKET

Inch Market and Car Boot sale takes place at Inch Hall from 7 am until mid afternoon every Saturday all year round.
