CLONEGAL/ KILDAVIN

Tuesday August 31 2010

SONG AND STORY: A special Song and Story was organised last Monday 23rd August to celebrate its 10 years in St. Brigit's Community Hall, Clonegal during Heritage Week. The Heritage committee were wondering would the good reputation established in the year 2000 be maintained, they need not have worried, if anything the show on Monday night was even better than the magnificent evenings of entertainment that had filled the hall ten years ago.

Over 100 people from Counties Carlow, Wexford, Wicklow and Kildare filled the Community Hall and sat back enjoying top class entertainers telling old stories. The work of the ladies committee and all who help with the serving of the tea, the selling of raffle tickets and all the other work that goes to make the Clonegal night of "Song and Stories" one of the best there is deserves a big thank you from all, but the nights would be lost without the wonderful array of talented people, young and not so young who turn up to allow others to enjoy their God given power to entertain.

A big thank you to Rick Gilchrist who provided a beautiful 10th Anniversary cake to make the occasion extra special. The next night of song and stories in St. Brigid's Community Hall will be Monday, September 27th, commencing at 8.30pm. MONSTER AUCTION

Sunday September 26th is a date that should be put in all diaries of the Parish as it is the day when Kildavin / Clonegal GAA Club will hold its Monster Auction in Spellman Park Complex, Kildavin.

The auction will have all of the usual items as well as a few surprises. If any member of the public would like to donate items then we would be very glad to accept them but only if they are in a saleable condition. CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Barry Hickey, Clonegal won two Texel Cross Hogget's in the Heifer and Hogget competition, run by the Irish Farmers Journal. He compiled a book consisting of six essays about his farm, which qualified him for the final. In the final, he did four interviews with sheep breeders at the Tullamore show and was later announced as one of fourteen national winners. ICA BACK
