TIDY TOWNS

The Annual General Meeting of the Tidy Towns will be held in the Parish Hall, Ballygarrett on Thursday 23rd February at 8.00pm. We are appealing for more volunteers to get involved in the upkeep of our village together we can make a difference

SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is extended to Mrs Bridie Dawson & Family, Newtown, Ballygarrett on the death of her beloved husband Dermot, to Mick Whelan & Family, Ballinastud on the death of his brother Dan in England and also to Maureen Whelan "Carrig View" on the death of her cousin. The Youth Club meets in Killenagh Park on Friday nights 8.00pm to 9.30pm. New and old members welcome

KILLENAGH WANDERERS

GOLF SOCIETY

Ballygarrett Golf Society season begins when their first outing of the year takes place on Saturday 3rd March in Blainroe GC. The day is sponsored by Jim O'brien and Natcom. Tee time 10.00am-11.30am and dinner is included.

Joan Sinnott makes a little bit of history this year by being our first female Captain and we would ask for a good turnout to support Joan on her first outing, on behalf of all members we wish Joan well for the season ahead.

Blainroe is one of the more popular golf clubs so get your names in early. All names to be in on or before 9.00pm 28th February. You can get your name in by email ballygarrettgolfsociety@gmail.com, mobile 087-1361899 or on facebook.

GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of last week's draw. The numbers picked were: 3, 6, 13, and 16. The €20 lucky dip winners were: Ben Mcgrath; KLM Sinnott; Liam Brennan; Christopher and David Besanson; and Grace Kavanagh. This week's jackpot stood at €2,600.

CHRISTY MOORE TRIBUTE

A fundraising concert, with Liam Byrne doing his Christy Moore tribute, will be held in Sean Og's, on Friday, 24th February at 9 p.m. The show is in aid of the Cosgrave School of Irish Dancing. Entry is €5 and tickets are available from the dancers, in Sean Og's, and on the door. A great door prize is also on offer. February 22, in Ambrose Maloney's, Courtown.

RIVERCHAPEL WHIST

The top score winner at the Riverchapel Whist on Thursday, February 9 last was Maeve Tomkins. In first place in the gents' section was Mary O'connor; Patsy Kinsella was second; and Kevin Kinsella shared third place with Terry. Maura was the halftime winner. In the gents' section, Peggy Nolan was first; P Stafford shared second place with Betty Byrne; while Anne Roche was the half-time winner. The raffle winners were: Peg Stafford; Alice Gibney; Collette O'toole; Marie Garlic; and Eileen Wheelock.

PRINCIPAL RETIRES

Past and present pupils of Riverchapel National School are invited along to a retirement function for principal Evan Stack, who is stepping down after serving as principal in the school since 2003, having been principal in Ballythomas NS before then. The function will be held in the school on Friday, February 24, at 7 p.m. Members of the local community are also welcome to attend.

CHURCH TIMES

Star of the Sea Church, Riverchapel, Mass Times are 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10 a.m. on Sundays.

REALT NA MARA GAA

TIDY TOWNS AGM

The AGM of Kilmuckridge Tidy Town was held in Joe Hammels on Monday 13th February at 8pm. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mrs Anne Marie hammel on the recent death of her father. The chairperson John Hearne thanked everybody for their hard work and dedication during the past year, many many hours of hard work went into this year's entry. We increased our mark significantly so this year we are looking for new ideas and as always new volunteers.
