Top-class drama at Gorey festival

THE SOUTH Leinster Three Act Drama Festival kicks off at Gorey Little Theatre on Thursday, March 4 next, and runs for eight nights.

Up first is Kilmuckridge Drama Group on the first night, with 'Canaries' by Bernard Farrell. On Friday, March 5, it's the turn of Ballyduff Drama Group with 'Of Mice and Men' by John Steinbeck.

On Saturday, March 6, Kilmeen Drama Group will present 'King of the Castle' by Eugene McCabe.

There's a break on Sunday for the regular bingo session, but the drama returns on Monday, March 8, with Silken Thomas Theatre Players and their production of 'The History Boys' by Alan Bennett.

On Tuesday, Ferns Drama Group are on stage with Brian Friel's 'Translations', followed by Ballycogley Drama Group on Wednesday, with 'Eclipsed' by Patricia Burke Brogan.

On Thursday, March 11, Kilrush Drama Group are on stage with 'On Raftery's Hill' by Marina Carr.

The festival comes to a close on Friday, March 12, with Cuckoo's Nest Theatre Players with 'The Caretaker' by Harold Pinter.

The plays commence each night at 8 p.m. apart from the final night when the curtain is up at 7.30 p.m. Admission is ¤10 nightly or ¤40 for a season ticket.
